Makarov Vodka is a low price segment vodka being produced by Baltic Products Group for release in Latvia. The client wanted the design to be "eye catching" or easily noticed. The target market for this vodka is mostly men, age- 30-55, living in rural areas and smaller towns. Makarov is the name of a Russian Military handgun. Makarov vodka will be placed on lower shelves.
This is the first concept I developed. This label contains a vector image of some generic Russian Soldiers. The design creates depth by having the soldiers marching right out of the boarder of the label. To promote masculinity the design has not only military men, but also the sunburst which highlights the soldiers. The rays represent strength, power, and enlightenment.
The typeface used for this label is Univers. The strong, geometric, blocky, type is very masculine. The name of the vodka can stand alone with this typeface. Also on the shelf, this typeface will be quite large compared to other labels. I also tried to mimic Russian Military propaganda posters. The idea is that if someone drinks this they will have the same strength and respect as the Russian military.
