O’so Brewing Co is located in Plover, Wisconsin. They are a relatively new brewery on the seen and have done nothing but grow since their opening. Marc and Katina Buttera approached me in need of a six-pack design. When he showed me his labels I convinced him it would be a good idea to do a complete re-branding of the four flagship beers before their release of six-pack, twelve-pack, and cases. Because O’so Brewing is still a very young brewery we had to decide what would be the best way to market their brews. I came up with the idea of having the consumer connect with the brewery as a whole, instead of connecting with their individual beers. What I mean by this is, we developed a great brand identity which will have consumers saying, "Oh, that is O’so." With this design we hve established a shelf space which is O’so. Once O’so expands and develops a strong fan base Marc plans on brewing more brews which will take on a different marketing approach (One similar to that of Three Floyds and how each beer has a creative unique label).
Marc really wanted to keep his signature O which can be found in the upper right hand corner of the label. This O helps represent what O’so is all about, freestyle brewing. The O is free flowing and mimics handwriting. I developed a hierarchy for the label which has a bar along the left side of the label for the brewery name and website. Then the viewer will see the beers name followed by our new creative way of describing beer. Instead of a paragraph we used keywords to describe each beer. This way everyone from beginner beer drinkers to high-end beer snobs know what they are purchasing. Plus the descriptive words just make you yearn for a beer.
